How to Make Crock Pot Cube Steak

  • Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  • Dredge the cube steak in flour and place it in the heated oil. Cook for 5 minutes, or until the meat is golden brown. To prevent overflowing the griddle, cook the steak in batches.
  • Half the onion and mushrooms should go in the bottom of the crock pot. On top, arrange the browned cube steaks. Add the remaining onions and mushrooms on top.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, onion soup mix, gravy package, beef stock, and thyme. Pour into the slow cooker.
  • Cook for 2–4 hours on high or 4–6 hours on low, or until the steak is tender and cooked through.
  • To produce a thicker sauce, combine 1 tablespoon cornstarch and 1 tablespoon water in a slurry. Pour into the sauce and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
